How to play Russian Solitaire

Take a moment with Russian Solitaire before moving to another game. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Look at what changes after your first action. Begin with the solo mode shown on the page. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

Yukon-style deal, same-suit building, no stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

Read before acting

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Keep the objective visible.

Your goal

Build four suit foundations from ace to king. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Return to the instructions when a step is unclear.

Step by step

  1. Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Use the control method described here for this activity. Check any mode label before starting.

A useful example

A heart 6 fits a heart 7, not a spade 7. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Consider the next action carefully.

Watch out for this

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use.
